How to play Matha and Einstein with no knowledge of the two languages August 16, 2021 August 16, 2021 admin

Mathematics has long been a favorite subject for those who study the sciences.

But what does it actually mean to study it?

In the words of mathematician Mathias Kastenmann, there are “many ways of understanding it”.

Kastenman has been a teacher of mathematics since the 1930s.

He’s taught a range of topics in his time, including algebra, geometry, and astronomy.

He also spent many years studying languages and was the first professor of mathematics at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands.

But he is the author of a new book, Matha: A Study of the Language of Mathematics, and has devoted his career to understanding the languages of the mathematics world.

In this episode of the podcast, we talk to Kastenberg about the history of the subject, the linguistic and cultural meanings of mathematics, and the linguistic value of the words we use to describe the subject.

The interview is in German.
